Meet Paris Singer, author of "Lunch with Diogenes," and Diogenes himself, the Philosopher Dog.
Lunch with Diogenes
Lunch with Diogenes combines the spoken wisdom of Diogenes, the Greek Philosopher who lived more than two thousand years ago, with the furry wisdom of Diogenes, a rescue mutt with the heart of a philosopher. It is an intertwined tale of the wise sayings of this Greek Philosopher, illustrated by photographs of the Philosopher Dog, Diogenes and the parallels between them that lead us to discover ancient truths, more relevant than ever for our lives today. The illustrations are "wise, funny, poignant, and remarkably contemporary...Diogenes will steal your heart" (The Literary Hill Book Review, Hill Rag magazine, May, 2012). It is the perfect gift book for friends, family, lunch pals, and colleagues, as well as the philosophers and puppies in your life.
Paris has resided in Washington, DC since 1979, where she became a professional photographer for congressional committees, journals, and travel documentaries. Her 9/11 photographs are part of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History's Collection, "September 11: Bearing Witness to History."
Diogenes is a denizen of Doggie Park on Capital Hill. He has grown into a true cynic in the best sense: tasting everything for himself, while showing the essentials for an authentic life. Now that he is old enough to drink, he is preparing for his next role: Cocktails with Diogenes.
